Father Sedarous

Education

v Father Sedarous graduated in May 1968 with a Bachelor of Theology from the Clergical Theological College at the Patriarchate of the See of St. Mark, the Coptic Orthodox Church, Cairo, Egypt. He was ranked as the head of his class and was nominated for a teaching position at the same College.

v Father Sedarous completed his post-graduate studies from June 1968 to June 1972. He presented numerous research papers during post-graduate studies, most of which were published as books (father Sedarous authored over 150 books) and the remaining literature were published as class notes for the Clergical Theological College courses.

v Father Sedarous was ordained as a priest on July 28, 1972 by the hands of H.G. Bishop Dioscoros, the late Bishop of Menoufia, Egypt.

v He was later promoted as Archpriest (Hugemen) on August 22, 1974 by the hands of H.G. Bishop Dioscoros, the late Bishop of Menoufia, Egypt.

v Father Sedarous served as the archpriest of St. George Coptic Orthodox Cathedral, Shebin El-kom, Egypt from July 1972 to October 1998 . His service spanned a congregation base of thousands of Coptic Orthodox Christians. Father Sedarous had multiple services throughout his 26 years tenure in Shebin El-kom including serving as the Diocese General Secretary, Head of the Theological College, and Spokesperson.  

v   Father Sedarous was appointed by the tri-blessed His Holiness Pope Shenouda III (late Pope of the Sea of St. Mark) to temporarily serve in multiple newly established Churches to start and organize new services, assemble its Board of Deacons, and recommend their permanent priests:

Ø  Germany: December 1995 to February 1996 served in Berlin, Munich, and Frankfort.

Ø  Denmark: December 1996 to January 1997 served in Copenhagen.

Ø  United Kingdom: January 1997 to February 1997 served in London.

Ø  United States of America: April 1996 to November 1996 served in Fresno, CA and Sacrament, CA; April 1997 to May 1997 served in Kansas City, MO; June 1997 to July 1997 served in Houston, TX; December 1997 to January 1998 and April 1998 to May 1998 served in Kansas City, MO.

v Father Sedarous was appointed by the hands of the tri-blessed His Holiness Pope Shenouda III (late Pope of the Sea of St. Mark) in October 1998 to serve the Coptic congregation in Columbus, Ohio as the archpriest of St. Mary and St. Joseph the Carpenter Coptic Orthodox Church, Columbus, Ohio. With Father Sedarous’ pastoral care, the Coptic congregation in Columbus quadrabled in a little over two decades.

v Father Sedarous departed to the Lord in December 2020 after 48+ years in priesthood.
